Urban Planning and Heritage Conservation
In 2007, the United Nations announced that for the first time in human history, more people lived in cities and towns than in rural areas. Though our cities and towns cover only 1-3% of the earth’s land area, our human footprint includes agricultural uses that make up another 38-40% of the earth’s land surface. In the last 100 years, our population has grown from 2 billion to over 8 billion people.
We live in a time of great transition, moving towards renewable energy, smarter cities and farms, and a growing understanding of the need to protect our natural and built cultural heritage. Our company provides websites and online resources that promote city planning and the conservation of natural and built cultural resources that are a part of this transition.
